Animal Adoption – How it works

Follow our six simple steps to adopting a pet.
1.
Search for your new pet
Use the Find a Pet tool to view the profiles of all the animals that are currently available for adoption throughout the RSPCA network.
1.
2.
Complete an Application Form
Before we can match you with a pet we need to know a bit about you, your current living circumstances as well as your preferences. You can fill in and send an application form using the links on this page. Don't worry if you don't hear from us straightaway as we will keep your application on file for 3 months until your perfect match comes up.
2.
3.
If successful, you will be contacted and an in person home visit arranged
*This is so that we can give you more details about our animals and have an informal chat with you. Some animals will require more introductions than others and this will be discussed with each individual. Some animals will also require a specific setting within your home, this will all be discussed during the home visit.
3.
4.
Meet the animal
It may be possible to meet the animal in a foster home. This is decided on a case-by-case basis.
4.
5.
Complete the adoption
Once the adoption process is successfully completed, your new family member will be delivered by our Rehoming Coordinator.
5.
6.
Ongoing Support
You will be given ongoing support and a post adoption check will be completed, usually after three weeks.
6.
*We work in partnership with RSPCA Basingstoke and Andover Branch to adopt some of our animals. Depending on location (Alton) you may be contacted by Basingstoke and Andover Branch to arrange adoption.
